Flexible Entry Requirements for the Falcon Work-Based Diploma in Hotel Management and Operation

The Falcon Work-Based TVET Diploma in Hotel Management and Operation recognizes the diverse backgrounds and experiences of its applicants. To encourage inclusivity and provide opportunities for a wide range of students, the program offers flexible entry requirements.

Standard Entry Requirements:

  1. Academic Qualifications:

    • A high school diploma or its equivalent (SPM, O-Levels, etc.).
    • Applicants without a high school diploma may be considered based on relevant work experience in the hospitality industry.
  2. Work Experience:

    • Applicants with relevant industry experience (at least 1-2 years) in hospitality, tourism, or customer service may qualify for entry even if they do not meet the formal academic requirements.
    • Mature students with 3+ years of work experience in related fields may also be eligible.
  3. Language Proficiency:

    • Basic proficiency in English is required for all applicants. However, students with limited proficiency may be considered for conditional admission with additional language support provided during the program.
    • Knowledge of Korean is not required but will be an advantage for the South Korea internship phase.
  4. Age:

    • The program is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 years. However, mature applicants beyond this age range may be considered based on their work experience and career aspirations.

 

 Alternative Entry Pathways:

  1. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

    • Applicants with significant prior learning or work experience in the hospitality industry may be considered for direct entry into the program, even if they do not meet the formal educational criteria.
    • RPL can be applied to waive certain modules or reduce the study duration based on previously acquired skills and knowledge.
  2. Foundational Courses:

    • Applicants who do not meet the academic qualifications may be admitted after completing a short foundational course designed to bridge gaps in knowledge and skills.
  3. Interview or Portfolio:

    • Candidates without formal qualifications may be required to attend an interview or submit a portfolio showcasing their work experience or projects in hospitality, customer service, or management.
    • The interview will assess their motivation, commitment, and suitability for the program.

Conditional Admission:

  • Applicants who narrowly miss meeting the academic or language requirements may be admitted on a conditional basis, provided they complete supplementary language or academic modules during the initial phase of the program.
